01 Extended public access hours at the Indiangrass Preserve has launched!
Visit the Indiangrass Preserve and the Katy Prairie Welcome Center during extended hours on the first weekend of every month.
Enjoy the wildlife and beauty of the Katy Prairie at sunrise every first Friday and first Saturday and at sunset every first Sunday. CPC naturalist will be on hand to answer questions and point out wildlife viewing opportunities.

The Board of Directors and supporters of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy gathered at the Houston Country Club on May 5 for Boots on the Ground: Where Conservation Happens, raising more than $300,000 to support conservation efforts across Southeast Texas.
The evening honored two longstanding champions of the Katy Prairie and working lands conservation: The McAnelly Family and C. W. Henderson Electric, Inc.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, seated dinner, and online auction featuring curated experiences and items, including guided hunts, birding tours, custom boot-making experiences, artwork, and private excursions.

On April 10, the Coastal Prairie Conservancy marked the opening of its new Katy Prairie Welcome Center at the Indiangrass Preserve with a private ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by a crowd of over 100 people including many elected officials and local dignitaries.
Located at the Indiangrass Preserve in Waller on the historic Katy Prairie, the Welcome Center creates a new entry point for visitors to experience the prairie firsthand. More than a building, the space is intended to help people better understand the prairie’s role in supporting wildlife, conservation, and long-term regional resilience, while offering a meaningful place to gather, learn, and engage with the landscape.
