2024 CPC Bash: Colors of Conservation
Join us as we celebrate the 2024 Coastal Prairie Conservancy Bash! The theme for this year's event, "Colors of Conservation," pays tribute to the hues and textures of the vibrant prairie landscape. It's you, the Coastal Prairie Conservancy's supporters, donors, and volunteers, who bring to life the broad strokes and fine details of successful conservation work in the region.
At the heart of this evening's celebration is the recognition of Dr. Phil Bedient and the SSPEED Center at Rice University, a research and education center working to better address severe storm prediction and its impact on the region. As the Center’s Director and Principal Investigator, Dr. Bedient has been at the forefront of Houston’s response to extreme weather events and a champion for natural solutions to environmental challenges. Prairie conservation is a leading example of these natural solutions and is an essential part of our region’s future resiliency. The Coastal Prairie Conservancy is honored to celebrate Dr. Bedient and the SSPEED Center’s significant contributions to research-based conservation efforts across the Houston area.
We eagerly anticipate celebrating what we have achieved together on May 1, 2024!

Join the Vice President and General Counsel of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy, Elisa Donovan, JD, and Daniel Thorpe, Conservation Associate, for a FREE informative session on conservation easements in Texas via Zoom. We'll cover the following topics and take questions from participants:
How do conservation easements work?
What are the benefits to the landowner?
What are the upfront costs? And are there funding opportunities?
How do the landowner and land trust work together to establish and maintain the easement?
Does an easement change how a landowner can use the land?
Can the public access easement lands?
What if the landowner plans to build another house?
Can the land be passed to heirs? What happens if the land is sold?
