Help us care for the Katy Prairie! Every Tuesday and Friday at the Indiangrass Preserve, volunteers assist with habitat restoration, trail care, and prairie maintenance — all essential to the success of our restoration and public access programs.
Activities include:
Growing native plants in our Coastal Prairie Native Seed Nursery
Planting wildflowers and grasses
Removing invasive species
Maintaining trails and repairing preserve improvements
Keeping preserves safe and welcoming for visitors of all ages
Special Project (2024–2026):
Join our pollinator program to collect seed, grow seedlings, and plant 20,000 milkweed plants to support monarch butterflies across the Katy Prairie!

Weekday volunteers
Long-term helpers interested in ongoing stewardship projects
Where: Indiangrass Preserve - 31975 Hebert Road, Waller, TX 77484.
When: Tuesdays and Fridays | 9 AM - 1 PM
Physical Requirements: Bending, kneeling, or sitting on the ground; some light lifting.
What to wear: Closed-toed shoes, tall socks, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat.
What to bring: Packed lunch or snacks, reusable water bottle, and work gloves (pairs available to borrow). All other tools are provided.
